December 2020 Update

2020 has been quite a year for all of us! Citizen Impact had an eventful year, and served churches and pastors throughout the pandemic. We were able to get in our Pastors & Ministry Leaders’ Day and Student Legislative Days in February before everything shut down. We are grateful for that!

Once the shutdowns began we quickly jumped in to help pastors interpret the various Executive Orders from Gov. Kemp and what each one meant for churches. We were able to host conference calls for the pastors in our network to speak with Gov. Kemp’s office. We intervened for a church when an official in their county tried to keep them from having a drive-in church service on Easter, and got the county to back down. We also provided information to pastors about live-streaming and online giving. We have received much positive feedback from pastors, who appreciated the help we provided in difficult times.

One of the more exciting things for Citizen Impact occurred this year when we hired a professional marketing firm to help us with rebranding and instituting more structure for our ministry. They created a new logo and tagline for Citizen Impact, and we worked on Vision and Mission statements, too. All of this helps us look more professional and create the infrastructure to have a long-lasting organization.

When the Georgia General Assembly goes into session in January, we will be focusing on the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), which Gov. Kemp has promised to sign. Click here for a helpful video explaining RFRA. We have also spoken with several legislators about introducing legislation to protect student-led prayers at public schools, and we will continue to fight against the expansion of state-sponsored gambling.
