We had a fantastic Citizen Impact Pastors & Ministry Leaders’ Day at the Georgia General Assembly in downtown Atlanta on Tuesday, February 7. Over 100 pastors and other ministry leaders registered this year, and we continue to have more legislators attend the breakfast portion of the day. These state legislators heard a wonderful devotional by Pastor John Anderson, Senior Pastor of Pinecrest Baptist Church in McDonough, the new President of the Citizen Impact Executive Board.
Throughout the morning several state legislators spoke about bills they are carrying, and Executive Director Paul Smith spoke about Citizen Impact’s legislative agenda. Gov. Brian Kemp, and his wife Marty spent about 30-40 minutes at our event. The governor spoke of his support of life, religious freedom, and the work he and Mrs. Kemp have done to prevent human trafficking. Dr. Montel Wilder, Pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Pepperell, MA closed out the lunch portion of the meeting with a challenging message! The ministry leaders then toured House chamber with Rep. John Carson and had a formal photo with Gov. Kemp. While waiting for the governor, our group sang hymns inside the capitol building!
