December 2023 End-of-Year Update
We are grateful that Citizen Impact had a strong year. Our Pastors & Ministry Leaders’ Day in February was well-attended and, once again, Gov. Brian Kemp spoke. We also re-started the Student Legislative Days for the first time since 2020.
At the Georgia General Assembly there was a hard push to legalize sports betting here in Georgia, but we (along with other like-minded organizations) were successful again stopping any expansion of state-sponsored gambling. We testified in committee in support of legislation that prohibits drastic surgery and treatment of minors, protecting children from these life-altering measures. Gov. Kemp signed it into law. We also worked to protect Christian schools from unnecessary government overreach.
We made two trips to Washington, DC, advocating for religious freedom, school safety, and protecting children from drastic treatments for gender dysphoria.
Our Annual Conference in August was a great success! Several new pastors attended who had never been before, and we had one of the largest groups of high school students attend! Dr. Bill Lyle was phenomenal!!
As Citizen Impact begins its 15th year of ministry, I hope you agree that it has been effective in two important areas: 1) A reliable source for pertinent and valuable information. 2) An advocacy organization that knows how to communicate our values to those who influence public policy.
